Andreu designs retail and custom typefaces at typerepublic and has been awarded with several Excellence in Type Design for his type design work. He's a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) and ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale). He holds a PhD in Design from the University of Southampton (UK) and teaches typography and type design at EINA, University School of Design and Art, in Barcelona. As a type designer, he's specialized in creating unique solutions for brands and organizations. Established as a freelance designer in 1989, he started his own studio and launched Garcia fonts & co type project. Presentations, lectures and keynotes include events such as ATypI conference (Helsinki’05, Lisbon’06 and Mexico’09), SND-ÑH (Lisboa 2002). Since 2015, he teaches typography and type design at EINA — University School of Design and Art in Barcelona. Previously, he taught as an associate professor at UPF — Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona from 2000 to 2015, BAU school of Design (1992-2004) and ELISAVA (2001-2015). He's currently an invited professor at different educational institutions and has given lectures and workshops all around the world.
